A year of drawing, painting, getting side tracked, and book design has finally culminated in my 3rd book. Thanks to all the friends of Sweet Pea for their support and encouragement. I have also been updating my previous 2 books… making corrections and improving the color and clarity of the illustrations. Later this year I look forward to starting my 4th book: Sweet Pea Gets a Job. Then only 5 to go. It would be nice to get to #9 by 2020: Sweet Pea for President. That would be timely. So all… stay tuned!
After four months of planning, drawing, painting, and computer work, my book is finished! Thank you all for your patience. The paperback version is now available at my e-store and Amazon. The hardback version will be available very soon. I, Sweet Pea must now get ready for Christmas. The author, though just wants to go take a nap.
My book has now been distributed to each of the Carroll County Library branches. Two are already checked out! So now anyone can get to know me. You know how I like making new friends! ~Sweet Pea
Six copies of Sweet Pea's Tale of Too Many Tomatoes have been purchased by the Carroll County Library System... Thank you Lynn Wheeler! They are being processed and will appear on the shelves soon. There is already one hold on it! Today the author was invited to visit the library headquarters materials selection department, where Sweet Pea made new friends with the staff. Books were sold and signed and we had a good time getting acquainted. THANK YOU Kendal, Debbie, Nancy and Concetta! You all made my day!
Same story as the prototype, with all new, bright, more detailed watercolor illustrations. More mice... more birdies.... more TOMATOES...more of everything. Sweet Pea gets just as flustered as always.
40 pages. 8 x 10 paperback
Now to start working on the other stories! Not enough hours in the day....
Hello. This is Sweet Pea. Today I finished my new story. I hope it will help chase away the winter clouds and the February blahs. I will post one page each day, until we reach the end. Then you can read the whole thing at My Bookshelf.
Remember this famous quote: "Once in a while it is very important to pay attention to small details." (Ha. I just made that up.) Happy Reading!
I do not like cold gloomy January. It snowed all day yesterday and my hole is completely buried. String Bean says it looks just like a sleeping polar bear. I am snug inside next to my fire but my feathered friends are cold and thirsty and do not have anything to eat. So after shoveling out I hang up peanut butter treat and scatter seed under the trees. Then I put hot water in the birdbath. Now my yard is filled with chirping and gazillions of wings fluttering about! Maybe winter isn't so bad after all. And the snow IS pretty.
Here is how to make delicious bird food:
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup vegetable shortening or margarine
3 cups cornmeal
3 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup nuts or cracked corn or shelled seeds if you have it
chopped raisins or currents if you want
Now. You can just squoosh it into a cup and hang it from a branch, or wire it to the tree. But here is what I did; I took a piece of tree branch and drilled 1" wide holes in it. Then I filled the holes with my concoction and hung it with wire from my tree. The birds LOVE it! And they love me.
HOPPY New Year!
This is Sweet Pea. I am writing a letter to you today. I hope that you have a very industrious, mishap-free, not-too-snowy year filled with lots of good friends, feasts, and flowers. I will share some of my recipes from my kitchen and give out some bunny garden wisdom as time goes by, when I feel like it.
So. Until next time, stay out of trouble, keep your rampages to a minimum and always leave some crumbs on the floor. You never know if someone might need them. = : )
P.S. I need your help! Soon I will try to get my stories printed on real paper. But I need to make them better first. So. Please read my BOOKS and tell me your opinion. I would like that very much. If you find a mistake, I will not be offended if you point it out. If you have a suggestion...great! If there is something you especially like, let me know that too. Thank you very much. ~Sweet Pea
